Bio
Kevin McFadden is the Chief Operating Officer of the Virginia Foundation for the Humanities. His experience with cultural programming draws on his nine seasons as Associate Program Director for the Virginia Festival of the Book (2001-2009) and an ongoing role with the Virginia Arts of the Book Center, a public letterpress and book arts studio in Charlottesville. He is involved on the committee for scheduling, venue selection, and on-site logistics for the Workshop portion of the Muslim World initiative.
McFadden, a former Henry Hoyns Fellow at the University of Virginia, is also the author of Hardscrabble, an inaugural selection of the VQR Poetry series which has received the George Garrett Award for poetry from the Fellowship of Southern Writers and the Great Lakes Colleges Association New Writers Award. His poems have appeared in American Letters & Commentary, Fence, Kenyon Review, Parnassus, Ploughshares, Poetry, and in other publications. In 2009, he was selected by U.S. Poet Laureate Kay Ryan to read at the 92nd Street Y’s “Tenth Muse” reading series.
